In Dance Dance Revolution GB, your goal is to press the corresponding directional buttons on the Game Boy as arrows scroll upward and align with stationary targets at the top of the screen. Each song has a unique step chart, and you must time your inputs to the rhythm of the music. Early on, focus on getting comfortable with the four-button layout (mapped to the D-pad) and recognizing basic arrow patterns. As you progress, songs become faster and patterns more complex, requiring quicker reactions and better anticipation. During tense moments, concentrate on the upcoming arrows rather than the ones you just hit, and try to maintain a combo by hitting consecutive steps accurately to maximize your score.
