In this 2D fighting game, the core objective is to defeat opponents in best-of-three round matches using a variety of martial arts strikes, special moves, and desperation attacks. Players control their fighter using the D-pad to move, crouch, jump, and block by holding backward. The Game Boy's two main buttons are mapped to punch and kick, with the strength of the attack determined by how long the button is held. Players can also utilize the series' signature lane-change mechanic to dodge incoming attacks by moving between the foreground and background planes. To succeed early on, focus on mastering the timing of basic attacks and learning character-specific special move commands. As matches intensify and your health drops below a critical threshold, your life bar will flash, allowing you to execute powerful desperation moves for a potential comeback.
