Super Robot Taisen Compact 2 is a tactical RPG where you command a squad of mecha units on a grid-based map. Your objective is to defeat enemy forces in each scenario while completing mission goals, which often involve protecting allies or surviving a set number of turns. On your turn, you select a unit, move it across the grid, and choose an attack or support action against enemies in range. Each unit has unique weapons with varying range and energy costs, and positioning is critical to avoid counterattacks and exploit terrain defenses. As the battle progresses, manage your Spirit Commands—special abilities that consume SP—to turn the tide with evasive maneuvers or powerful attacks. During tense moments, prioritize eliminating high-threat enemies and use defensive formations to withstand boss assaults. The challenge comes from balancing aggression with survival, as losing key pilots can lead to a game over.
