Tales of Destiny II is an action RPG where you control Reid Hershel in real-time combat encounters. The core gameplay revolves around exploring towns and dungeons, interacting with NPCs, and engaging in battles that occur on the same screen as exploration. Use the directional pad to move your character and the action buttons to attack, defend, and execute special Artes abilities. Building combos by chaining normal attacks with Artes is key to dealing significant damage. Outside of combat, manage your party's equipment, items, and skills through menu screens. The game features a Linear Motion Battle System that allows for strategic positioning and timing of attacks. Early on, focus on learning enemy patterns and mastering basic attack combinations. As you progress, you'll unlock more powerful Artes and can assign them to button combinations for quick access during intense battles. In tense moments, effective use of healing items and strategic party member commands are crucial for survival.
