Your objective is to pilot the ship Recca through waves of enemy forces, destroying everything in your path and surviving to confront the final boss. The moment-to-moment play is extremely fast-paced; you control your ship with the D-pad, firing a constant stream of shots with the B button and unleashing a powerful, screen-clearing bomb with the A button when overwhelmed. You can collect power-up icons to enhance your main weapon's strength and spread. A key beginner strategy is to learn the fixed enemy spawn locations and attack patterns, as memorization is crucial for navigating the dense bullet hell. Focus on staying mobile and using the edges of the screen to create safe zones. In the early stages, prioritize collecting power-ups to maximize your firepower. During the middle of a run, the challenge intensifies with faster enemies and more complex attack formations; here, precise dodging becomes more important than aggressive shooting. In tense moments against bosses, focus on survival by making small, deliberate movements to slip through narrow gaps in the bullet patterns, saving your bombs for when you are truly trapped.
