You play as Link, a young boy destined to save the land of Hyrule. The core objective is to explore dungeons, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies to collect Spiritual Stones and Medallions, which grant you the power to travel between your childhood and adult eras. Moment-to-moment play involves navigating expansive fields and intricate dungeons, using your sword and shield in combat, and learning songs on the Ocarina of Time that manipulate the environment and warp you to key locations. A useful beginner strategy is to thoroughly explore each area, talk to non-player characters for hints, and use Z-Targeting to lock onto enemies for more precise attacks. The challenge rhythm builds from simple enemy encounters to complex boss battles that require specific strategies. In the early game, focus on mastering basic combat and exploration in Kokiri Forest and Hyrule Field. In the middle game, concentrate on dungeon-crawling and acquiring key items like the Hookshot and Bow. During tense moments, such as boss fights, prioritize learning attack patterns and using the right item to exploit weaknesses.
