Final Fantasy VI is a role-playing game where you control a large cast of characters through a story-driven adventure. Gameplay is divided between exploring towns and dungeons from a top-down perspective and fighting enemies in a menu-driven battle system. In combat, you select commands like Attack, Magic, and Item for each character in your party. Early on, focus on building a balanced party and equipping Espers to learn curative and offensive spells. As you progress, you will recruit numerous characters, each with a unique special ability, such as Locke's Steal or Edgar's Tools. The game's challenge comes from managing your resources in long dungeons and mastering the timing-based Desperation Attacks. During tense boss fights, prioritize healing, exploiting elemental weaknesses, and using powerful summons.
