You control your kart with the D-pad, using buttons to accelerate, brake, and deploy items collected from question mark boxes. Drifting around corners by holding the R button builds up a mini-turbo boost, which is essential for maintaining speed. Beginners should focus on learning the track layouts and mastering the timing of drifts to shave seconds off their lap times. The game features Grand Prix cups across multiple difficulty levels, with each cup consisting of four races. As you progress, you'll unlock new karts and cups by earning trophies. In tense moments, such as the final lap, strategic use of defensive items like bananas or shells can protect your lead, while offensive items like red shells or lightning bolts can disrupt opponents ahead. The key to success is balancing speed with smart item management, especially when navigating hazards or tight corners.
