Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a one-on-one fighting game where the primary objective is to deplete your opponent's health bar using a combination of basic attacks, special moves, and brutal finishing moves known as Fatalities. Players begin by selecting a fighter from a large roster, each with unique special moves and combos. The core gameplay involves moving horizontally on a 2D plane, using high and low punches and kicks to create openings, and executing special moves with directional inputs combined with attack buttons. A key strategy is to learn a few reliable combos for your chosen character and practice the timing for their special moves. The game features a run button, allowing for quick forward dashes to apply pressure or create distance. As you progress, you'll face opponents with increasingly aggressive AI. In tense moments, blocking is essential to avoid damage, and mastering the timing for counter-attacks is crucial. The ultimate challenge is to perform a Fatality after winning the final round by inputting a specific sequence of buttons from the correct distance, which requires precise execution.
