You control Ryu Hayabusa through side-scrolling action stages filled with enemies, platforms, and environmental hazards. Your primary weapon is the Dragon Sword, which you can swing in close combat. You'll also acquire ninja magic spells and sub-weapons like shurikens and fire wheels that consume spiritual energy. The game features more RPG elements than previous entries, with shops where you can purchase items and upgrades between stages. Platforming requires precise jumps and careful timing to navigate pits and obstacles. Combat focuses on quick attacks while avoiding enemy patterns. In the early game, conserve your ninja magic for challenging sections and boss fights. As you progress, master the timing of your sword strikes and jumps to maintain momentum through increasingly difficult stages. During tense moments, use defensive positioning and sub-weapons strategically rather than rushing forward recklessly.
