Your goal is to defeat all enemies on each grid-based stage by strategically placing bombs to destroy obstacles and opponents. You control Bomberman from a top-down perspective, moving through maze-like levels. You start with the ability to place only one bomb at a time with a limited explosion radius. Break soft blocks to reveal power-ups that increase your bomb count, extend your blast range, grant you speed boosts, or provide special abilities like kicking bombs.
