Early on, focus on capturing a variety of types to cover weaknesses. Mid-game, train your team evenly and use type advantages in battles. In tense moments, such as Gym Leader fights, plan your moves carefully and keep healing items handy. Progress requires defeating the eight Gym Leaders to earn badges, which allow you to use HM moves outside of battle and access new areas.
