How to play
In Golden Axe, you select one of three heroes—Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, or Gilius Thunderhead—each with unique weapons and magic abilities. Your goal is to fight through seven stages of enemies, using a combination of melee attacks, jumping strikes, and magic spells. You can also ride creatures like dragons and chicken-leg beasts that provide special attacks. Collect blue potions from thieves to replenish your magic meter, which allows you to cast powerful area-of-effect spells. Early on, focus on learning your character's attack range and magic strength; Tyris has the strongest magic but weaker defense, while Gilius is slow but powerful. In tense moments, use magic to clear the screen when surrounded. The final stage is a duel against the main villain Death Adder.
