How to play
Metal Slug is a side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter. Your primary objective is to advance through each stage, defeating waves of enemy soldiers and vehicles while rescuing POWs for bonus points and power-ups. You control a soldier who can run, jump, crouch, and throw grenades. The core gameplay loop involves precise shooting and dodging enemy fire. A key strategy is to master the timing of your jumps and grenade throws to clear groups of enemies and avoid projectiles. In the early stages, focus on learning enemy patterns and conserving grenades for tougher enemies or bosses. The middle of a run requires careful management of the limited ammunition for special weapons you collect, such as the Heavy Machine Gun or Rocket Launcher, saving them for armored vehicles and boss fights. During tense moments, especially boss battles, prioritize movement and positioning over aggressive shooting, as staying alive is more important than dealing damage quickly. Success depends on memorizing stage layouts and enemy spawn points.
