How to play
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, you begin by taking a personality quiz to determine which Pokémon you will become. Your core objective is to form a rescue team with a partner Pokémon and accept missions from the bulletin board to help others in distress. Moment-to-moment play involves navigating grid-based, randomly generated dungeons floor by floor. You move one square at a time, and enemies move simultaneously in turn-based combat. Use your Pokémon's moves to defeat wild Pokémon, collect items, and reach the stairs to descend deeper. A useful beginner strategy is to manage your Belly hunger meter by eating food found on the ground and to link moves together for powerful combos. In the early game, focus on completing simple rescue missions to build your team's level and recruit new Pokémon. As you progress, the dungeons become longer and more complex, requiring careful item management and strategic use of type advantages. During tense moments, such as boss fights or when low on health, prioritize using healing items and status-affecting moves to control the battle.
