Your objective is to guide your commando through eight stages, shooting enemy soldiers, aliens, and robotic bosses while avoiding their attacks. You move with the D-pad, jump to dodge obstacles and enemy fire, and shoot in the direction you're facing. Collect power-ups like the Spread Gun, which fires in five directions, or the Laser for a concentrated beam, to increase your firepower. The game alternates between side-scrolling levels where you run and jump over pits, and pseudo-3D stages where you move into the screen, dodging enemy fire from the foreground. In the early stages, focus on learning enemy patterns and grabbing the Spread Gun for crowd control. During tense moments, prioritize dodging over attacking, especially during boss fights where memorizing attack patterns is key to survival. Use continues wisely, as you have limited lives to complete the game.
