In Valkyrie Profile, you explore side-scrolling dungeons as the Valkyrie Lenneth, using her abilities to jump, swing her sword, and fire magical arrows to solve environmental puzzles and defeat enemies. The core objective is to recruit powerful Einherjar souls by completing their stories and preparing them for the final battle. Combat is turn-based with a twist: you control a party of up to four characters and attack by pressing each character's corresponding button to chain combos. Timing your presses correctly allows for powerful special attacks and breaks enemy defenses. A key beginner strategy is to focus on learning each character's attack rhythm and conserving healing items for boss fights. In the early game, prioritize exploring each area thoroughly to find hidden items and recruit strong warriors. As you progress, manage your party's equipment and skills carefully, and make strategic choices about which Einherjar to send to Odin to advance the story. During tense combat moments, watch enemy attack patterns and use your Valkyrie's special Purify Weird technique to interrupt powerful enemy attacks and turn the tide of battle.
