In NEOGEO CUP '98, your objective is to win soccer matches by scoring more goals than the opposing team. You control a team of players, passing the ball, dribbling past defenders, and taking shots on goal. Use the joystick to move your players and buttons to pass, shoot, or perform a sliding tackle. Build up momentum by stringing together passes to create openings. A powerful super shot can be unleashed when your power meter is charged, often breaking through the goalkeeper's defenses. As the game progresses, look for opportunities to use through passes to send attackers sprinting toward the goal. In tense moments, such as during a counter-attack or in the final minutes, prioritize solid defense and capitalize on any mistakes your opponent makes. Mastering the timing of tackles and the angle of your shots is key to securing victory.
