In Rambo III for the Master System, you control John Rambo through a series of side-scrolling combat missions. Your primary objective is to survive enemy encounters and complete stage goals, which often involve reaching the end of the level or defeating a boss. You move Rambo left and right, jump over obstacles, and crouch to avoid enemy fire. Your main weapons are a machine gun with unlimited ammunition and a limited supply of grenades for dealing with groups of enemies or tougher foes. Health is represented by a life bar, and you can collect medical kits to restore it. The gameplay alternates between standard run-and-gun stages and special vehicle sections, such as riding a helicopter. In the early stages, focus on learning enemy patterns and conserving grenades for larger threats. During tense moments, use crouching strategically to minimize your hitbox and pick off enemies methodically. The challenge rhythm involves navigating platforms while managing constant enemy attacks from both ground and air.
