As Shadow Man, your primary objective is to traverse both the living world and the deadly realm of Deadside to stop the serial killer Legion from unleashing an apocalyptic army. You explore large, interconnected areas from a third-person perspective, collecting dark souls to increase your health and finding voodoo relics to unlock new abilities. Combat involves using an array of supernatural weapons, like the Shadow Gun, to defeat various grotesque enemies. The gameplay loop focuses on exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat. A key strategy is to methodically search each area for collectibles, as they are essential for progression and powering up. Early on, focus on learning the layout of the hub areas and mastering the dodge maneuver to avoid enemy attacks. In tense moments, use the environment for cover and prioritize eliminating ranged foes first. The challenge comes from navigating the hostile, non-linear environments and managing resources during extended combat encounters.
