Your goal is to fight through six stages of New York City, defeating thugs and supervillains to rescue hostages captured by the Kingpin. You control Spider-Man, moving left and right on a 2D plane. Use the joystick to walk and jump, and the attack button to punch, kick, and unleash web-based special moves. Your web shot can temporarily immobilize regular enemies, making them easy targets for follow-up attacks. As you progress, you will face iconic villains like the Lizard, Electro, and Venom in challenging boss fights. A second player can join as a palette-swapped Spider-Man for cooperative play. In the early stages, focus on learning the attack patterns of basic enemies and conserving health. Use your web special attack sparingly as it consumes health. During tense moments, especially boss fights, keep your distance and attack during their recovery animations. The final stage is a dramatic showdown with the Kingpin atop a skyscraper.
