In Silent Dragon, your primary objective is to navigate through horizontally scrolling stages, defeating waves of enemies and formidable bosses using hand-to-hand combat and weapons. You control your martial artist using a joystick for movement and a set of buttons to execute attacks, jumps, and special moves. Mastering the timing of your strikes and keeping enemies positioned on one side of your character is vital to avoid being surrounded and overwhelmed during crowded encounters. During the early stages of a run, focus on learning enemy attack patterns and conserving your health while picking up dropped items and melee weapons. In the middle sections, utilize the classic attack-plus-jump clearing maneuver to escape tight corners when enemy pressure mounts. Prepare for intense boss fights by timing your dodges carefully, striking only when their defenses are down, and unleashing your most powerful combos to secure victory.
