Double Dragon Advance is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you control martial artist Billy Lee (or Jimmy Lee in 2-player mode) to rescue his girlfriend Marian from the Black Warriors gang. Your objective is to fight through waves of enemies across multiple urban stages using punches, kicks, grabs, and special attacks. The core gameplay involves moving left and right, attacking enemies to deplete their health bars, and avoiding environmental hazards. You can pick up weapons like whips, knives, and barrels to deal more damage. A key beginner strategy is to master the combo system: landing successive hits builds a combo meter, allowing you to unleash a powerful super move when full. In the early stages, focus on learning enemy patterns and practicing defensive moves like blocking and dodging. As you progress, the challenge increases with tougher enemies and bosses; use throws and jump kicks to control crowds. During tense moments, especially boss fights, keep your distance, wait for openings, and use your super move strategically to turn the tide.
