Fatal Fury 2 is a one-on-one fighting game where players select a character and battle opponents in best-of-three matches. The core objective is to deplete your opponent's health bar before they defeat you. The game introduced the two-line battle system, allowing fighters to switch between foreground and background planes to dodge attacks and create strategic openings. Each character has unique special moves performed with directional inputs combined with button presses. Beginners should focus on mastering basic attacks and a few reliable special moves before attempting complex combos. The game features a super special move system that requires building up a power gauge through combat. In tense moments, smart use of plane switching and well-timed super moves can turn the tide of battle. The challenge progresses through increasingly difficult opponents, culminating in a final boss battle against Wolfgang Krauser.
