How to play
In Earth Defense Force, you pilot the XA-1 ship through horizontally scrolling stages, battling waves of alien invaders. The primary objective is to shoot down enemies while dodging incoming projectiles and environmental hazards. You control your ship's movement and use a primary weapon button to fire. A key mechanic is the selection of weapon types at the start of each stage, including Vulcans, Lasers, and Homings, which can be leveled up by collecting experience points dropped by destroyed enemies. To survive the escalating difficulty, focus on positioning your ship to maximize the coverage of your current weapon. Utilize the Option shields orbiting your ship, which can be toggled between defensive and offensive formations to block bullets or focus fire. In the early stages, prioritize gathering power-up items to upgrade your arsenal. During tense boss battles in later stages, prioritize dodging and utilizing the defensive shield formation to survive bullet hell patterns.
