How to play
Guardian Heroes is a side-scrolling action RPG where your primary goal is to fight through hordes of enemies across multiple branching levels. You control one of several unique characters, each with their own basic attacks, special magical abilities, and a super move. Combat is fast-paced and occurs on three different planes of movement (foreground, middle, and background), which you can switch between by pressing up or down. This adds a strategic layer to positioning and dodging enemy attacks. You gain experience points from defeated foes to level up, increasing your health and magic power, and you can allocate points to strengthen your physical attacks or magical prowess. In the early stages, focus on learning your character's basic combo and a reliable special move. As you progress, manage your magic meter carefully, as powerful spells can clear the screen but leave you vulnerable if depleted. The game features branching paths and multiple endings, so your choices during key story moments will change the levels you play and the final outcome. During tense boss fights, learn their attack patterns, use the plane-shifting to avoid damage, and unleash your most powerful attacks when you see an opening.
