How to play
The Phantom Hourglass is controlled almost entirely with the Nintendo DS stylus. You tap on the screen to move Link, draw paths for his boomerang, and slash your sword by making quick strokes. The core objective is to explore the Ocean King's temple repeatedly, solving puzzles and battling enemies across various dungeons to collect sand for your hourglass. In the middle of the game, use your new items like the bombchus and grappling hook to access hidden areas and defeat dungeon bosses. During tense moments, keep an eye on your hourglass sand—if it runs out in the temple, you'll be forced to leave. The challenge rhythm involves short bursts of action in dungeons mixed with open-sea exploration where you chart your course, fish, and engage in naval combat.
