How to play
Metal Slug 4 is a side-scrolling run-and-gun game where your objective is to survive through multiple stages filled with enemy soldiers, tanks, and bosses. You control a soldier who can run, jump, crouch, and shoot in eight directions. Collect power-ups to upgrade your main weapon from a basic pistol to machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, and the powerful Metal Slug tank. Rescue POWs throughout the levels to earn bonus points and extra weapons. The game features two-player cooperative play, allowing you to team up with a friend to cover more ground and revive each other when downed. In the early stages, focus on learning enemy patterns and conserving your special weapons for tougher encounters. As you progress, you'll face increasingly complex enemy formations and environmental hazards that require quick reflexes and strategic use of your limited ammunition. During tense moments, especially boss fights, prioritize dodging attacks while looking for openings to deal damage. The Metal Slug vehicle provides temporary invincibility and heavy firepower but is vulnerable to concentrated enemy fire. Manage your lives and continues carefully, as the game maintains the series' signature high difficulty level.
