How to play
The core objective of NBA JAM is to outscore your opponent in a two-on-two basketball match. Each match consists of four quarters, and the first team to reach a set point total or have the highest score when time expires wins. Moment-to-moment play involves passing, stealing, and shooting the ball. The game is famous for its 'on-fire' mechanic; if a player makes three consecutive baskets without the opponent scoring, they become 'on fire,' gaining unlimited turbo and the ability to make nearly impossible shots from anywhere on the court. A useful beginner strategy is to master the timing of jump shots and alley-oop passes, which are highly effective for scoring. In the early part of a match, focus on building a lead and learning your opponent's defensive patterns. During the middle of the game, use turbo boosts strategically for quick bursts of speed on offense and defense. In tense final moments, protecting your lead by using turbo to block shots and disrupt passes is crucial, while if you are behind, aggressively going for steals and three-pointers can turn the game around.
