How to play

Sichuan is home to adorable pandas, delicious hot pot, and great mahjong enthusiasts. It's said that people here can play mahjong anywhere, even in the river. Sichuan Mahjong is the most popular variant of mahjong in China. 🐼 Sichuan Mahjong, also known as Sichuan Blood Mahjong, uses a set of 108 tiles. It includes suits of Characters, Bamboos, and Circles, but no Winds or Dragons. 🀄 Compared to other mahjong variants, Sichuan Mahjong's rules are simpler and clearer. In the first round, players must discard one suit. When the first player wins, the game continues. The game doesn't end until the second and third players have also won. 🎲 Sichuan Mahjong Tiles: The game uses 108 tiles. The "chow" (eating a discard to form a sequence) is not allowed; only "pung" (forming a set of three) and "kong" (forming a set of four) are permitted. Winning Hands: A winning hand consists of four sets (pungs or kongs or sequences) and a pair. A special hand is the Seven Pairs. Multiple players can win simultaneously. Tile Exchange: Before declaring a discarded suit, players can exchange 3 tiles of the same suit with other players. Forbidden Suit: At the beginning of the game, players choose a suit to discard. This means they cannot win with tiles of that suit in their hand. Forbidden Suit Check: At the end of the game, players are checked to ensure they have discarded all tiles of their declared suit. If they still hold tiles of that suit, they are penalized. Ready Hand Check: If the game ends in a draw, players who were not ready to win (waiting for only one tile) pay points to those who were. Sichuan Mahjong Scoring Calculation A hand with no fan is worth 1 point. A hand with a fan:Score=2^Fan. The maximum fan is capped at 3, meaning the highest base score is 8. Win by discard: The winner receives the base score from the player who discarded the winning tile. Win by self-drawn: The winner receives the base score + 1, multiplied by the number of other players. Sichuan Mahjong Fan list Root: 1 for each, 4 identical tiles in two or more sets. All Pungs: 1 fan, Hand with four pungs or kongs and a pair. Golden Wait: 1 fan, Four melds (pungs or kongs) in hand, the winning tile completes the pair, add 1 fan for "All Pungs". Full Flush: 2 fan, All tiles in the hand are one suit only. Seven Pairs: 2 fan, Seven pairs in hand. Win after Kong: 1 fan, Declaring Hu on a replacement tile after making a kong. Shoot after Kong: 1 fan, Declaring Hu on a tile discarded after making a kong. Robbing the Kong: 1 fan, Declaring Hu by robbing a kong. Under the Sea: 1 fan, Declaring Hu on the last tile in the wall or on the discardafter the last tile. Sichuan Mahjong Strategies and Techniques Strive for Speed: Based on your starting hand, choose which tiles to discard and quickly decide on your discarded suit. Speed is crucial in Blood Battle Mahjong, and a quickly formed hand increases your winning chances. Observe Other Players' Discards: Try to deduce their discarded suits and thus their hand composition. If you can guess their main suit, you can try to suppress it, reducing their chances of going ready or winning. Try for Kongs: Kongs are very important in Sichuan Mahjong, significantly increasing fan and providing extra points. Therefore, keeping pairs and pungs in hand with the hope of forming a kong is a common strategy. Maintain a Stable Mindset: Sichuan Blood Battle Mahjong requires patience and observation. Avoid making rash decisions that can lead to a chain reaction to mistakes. Analyze the situation calmly, especially after an opponent has already won, and don't rush for results.
