How to play
The Mask is a side-scrolling action platformer where you control Stanley Ipkiss, who can transform into the powerful and chaotic Mask by collecting power-up items. Your primary objective is to fight through various urban levels, defeating gangs of thugs and unique bosses to rescue Tina Carlyle. Moment-to-moment gameplay involves running, jumping across platforms, and using The Mask's signature attacks, primarily a powerful punch combo. You can collect green mask icons to fill a meter; once full, pressing a special button unleashes a temporary super-powered state or a screen-clearing special attack. As a beginner, focus on learning enemy patterns and timing your jumps to avoid environmental hazards like bottomless pits. The challenge rhythm involves clearing rooms of enemies, navigating platforming sections, and conserving your special meter for boss fights. In tense moments, especially during boss encounters, prioritize dodging attacks and waiting for openings to strike rather than engaging recklessly.
