The core objective is to survive encounters with mutated creatures known as Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures. Your moment-to-moment play involves navigating areas like the desolate town of Dryfield and the underground shelter MIST, solving environmental puzzles to progress, and managing resources such as healing items and ammunition. Combat uses an Active Time Effect system where you can move freely but must hold still to aim and fire your weapon for increased accuracy. A key beginner strategy is to master the quick turn and dodge maneuvers to avoid enemy attacks while lining up your shots. In the early game, focus on conserving ammo by using your Parasite Energy (PE) for offensive spells. As you progress, the challenge increases with larger enemy groups and bosses requiring strategic use of weapon upgrades and PE abilities.
