Your goal is to guide your chosen ninja through each side-scrolling stage, defeating enemies and avoiding hazards to reach the boss at the end. You move with the D-pad, jump with a button, and attack with your primary weapon using another button. You can also hang from certain ceilings and climb specific walls. Defeating enemies and breaking lanterns yields power-ups that upgrade your main weapon to a more powerful sword, a projectile weapon like shurikens, or a bomb with area damage. Some power-ups grant temporary invincibility. Each stage features platforming challenges, enemy ambushes, and environmental traps. A boss awaits at the end of most stages, requiring you to learn their attack patterns to defeat them. Focus early on mastering movement and collecting weapon upgrades. In tense moments, use your special weapon strategically and prioritize dodging attacks over dealing damage.
