Early in the game, focus on collecting as many Hint Coins as possible by tapping suspicious objects like chimneys or barrels; these coins are vital for unlocking clues when you encounter difficult puzzles later on. As the mystery deepens, you will encounter 'Picarats,' which represent the value of a puzzle; answering incorrectly reduces the Picarats earned, so take your time before submitting a solution. Balance your progress between following the main story and completing optional side puzzles found in the Layton's Challenges menu to fully uncover every secret the village holds.
