A foundational action role-playing game where players battle through dungeons to defeat the Lord of Terror, Diablo.
Your goal is to descend into the depths of the cathedral and its labyrinthine halls beneath the town of Tristram to defeat the demon Diablo. You begin by choosing one of three character classes: the sturdy Warrior, the mystical Sorcerer, or the agile Rogue. Moment-to-moment play involves exploring randomly generated dungeon levels, clicking to move and attack hordes of monsters, and managing your health and mana. Loot is essential; you must constantly search for better weapons, armor, and magical items to survive the increasing difficulty. A key beginner strategy is to use doorways as chokepoints to fight enemies one at a time and to frequently return to town to heal, repair gear, and sell unwanted items. As you progress, you'll gain levels, learn new spells or skills, and face unique boss monsters guarding the path downward. The challenge rhythm is a steady climb through sixteen increasingly perilous levels, culminating in a final confrontation in Hell itself. Focus on survival early on, building a robust character in the middle levels, and carefully managing your resources during the tense, monster-packed final descent.
