Your primary objective is to navigate the zombie-infested Raccoon City Police Department and surrounding areas, solving puzzles and managing scarce resources to survive. You control your character from a third-person perspective, using tank controls to move and aim your weapons. Combat involves carefully aiming at zombies and other mutated creatures to conserve ammunition; headshots are most effective. Explore environments thoroughly to find key items, ammunition, and healing herbs, but be mindful of your limited inventory space. Save your progress at typewriters using ink ribbons, which are a limited resource. In tense moments, prioritize evasion over confrontation to preserve health and ammo. The game features two separate campaigns with overlapping stories, encouraging multiple playthroughs to see the full narrative.
