A life simulation game where players move into a village, customize their home, interact with animal villagers, and participate in seasonal events.
In Animal Crossing: Wild World, your main goal is to build a life in a charming village populated by animal neighbors. You start by moving into a small house with a mortgage to pay off to the raccoon entrepreneur Tom Nook. Moment-to-moment play involves exploring your town, talking to villagers to build friendships, fishing in rivers and the ocean, catching bugs with your net, digging for fossils, and collecting fruit from trees. You can sell these items to earn Bells, the in-game currency, which you use to pay your mortgage and expand your house, or to buy furniture, clothing, and decorations to personalize your home. The game runs in real-time, syncing with your Nintendo DS clock, so different fish, bugs, and events occur depending on the time of day and season. A key early strategy is to focus on paying off your first home loan quickly to get more storage space. As you progress, you can donate specimens to the museum, participate in holidays like the Fishing Tourney, and send letters and gifts to your neighbors. The challenge is open-ended and relaxed, with no way to permanently fail, allowing you to focus on collecting, designing, and socializing at your own pace. During tense moments, such as trying to catch a rare fish that appears for only a short time, patience and careful timing are essential.
