In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, you control both the adult Mario and Luigi and their baby counterparts simultaneously. The core objective is to navigate through various time periods, solving environmental puzzles and engaging in turn-based battles against the Shroob invaders. During exploration, you use the brothers' unique abilities—like jumping and hammer attacks—to overcome obstacles, with the babies often carried by the adults or used for special moves. In battle, you must time your button presses to execute powerful attacks and dodge enemy strikes, with Bros. Moves requiring coordinated input for both characters. A useful beginner strategy is to master the timing for counterattacks, as well-pressed commands can significantly increase your damage output and defense. The challenge rhythm involves alternating between puzzle-heavy dungeon crawling and strategic combat encounters. Early on, focus on learning each brother's role and practicing action commands. In the middle of the game, prioritize upgrading equipment and mastering complex Bros. Moves. During tense boss fights, watch for attack patterns and use items wisely to heal or boost your stats.
