In Sangokushi Eiketsuden, your primary goal is to guide your chosen officer from a lowly position to a high-ranking general or ruler. The game unfolds through a mix of turn-based strategy on a world map and tactical battles. On the map, you manage your character's actions each month, which can include training troops, developing cities, forming alliances, or spying on rivals. When conflict arises, the game shifts to a tactical battle screen where you command your units in grid-based combat, using terrain advantages and unit types to outmaneuver the enemy. A key early-game strategy is to build strong relationships with powerful lords to secure protection and resources, while focusing on developing a single city's economy and military before expanding. As the game progresses, you will need to balance military conquest with diplomatic efforts to avoid being overwhelmed by coalitions. During tense moments, such as defending a key city, prioritize holding chokepoints with strong defensive units and using your officer's special commands to turn the tide of battle.
