In Mega Man Xtreme, you control X through side-scrolling stages filled with enemies, platforms, and hazards. Navigate each stage carefully, jumping over pits and avoiding environmental dangers while collecting health and weapon energy pickups. Each Maverick stage presents unique challenges and requires strategic use of your acquired weapons to defeat the boss efficiently. After clearing the initial eight stages, you'll face a series of fortress levels with tougher enemies and more complex platforming sections leading to the final confrontation. Focus on mastering X's dash ability for mobility and learning enemy patterns to conserve health for the challenging boss fights. The game features multiple difficulty settings and a 'Xtreme' mode for increased challenge after completing the main game.
