In Astro Boy: Omega Factor, players control Astro as he flies and fights through side-scrolling stages. The core objective is to defeat waves of enemies and powerful bosses by chaining basic melee attacks, performing dashes to dodge, and using special EX abilities like the Finger Laser, Arm Cannon, and machine guns. Astro can fly freely in some stages, while others require ground-based platforming and combat. To succeed, players must manage the EX gauge, which fills as Astro damages enemies and is spent to unleash devastating screen-clearing attacks. A crucial progression mechanic is the Omega Factor: players must interact with and discover various characters from Osamu Tezuka's universe to unlock and upgrade Astro's stats, such as health, punch power, and laser strength. Focus on dashing through enemy attacks to position yourself for back-attacks, and save EX moves for boss phases.
