Final Fight One is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where your goal is to fight through six stages of Metro City, defeating waves of thugs and bosses to rescue Jessica. You control your character with the D-pad to move, with one button for attacking and another for jumping. You can perform basic combos by repeatedly pressing attack, and combine jump and attack for a jumping strike. Grabbing enemies allows you to throw them or perform a special grab attack. You can also pick up weapons like pipes and knives from the ground to deal more damage. Your character has a special attack that damages all nearby enemies but costs a small amount of health, which is useful for escaping tough situations. Health-restoring food appears by breaking barrels and crates. The game uses a password system to continue your progress. Focus on crowd control by keeping enemies in front of you, use throws to create space, and conserve your health for the challenging boss fights at the end of each stage. In tense moments, your special attack can be a lifesaver, but use it sparingly.
