Guilty Gear is a 2D fighting game where you select a character and engage in one-on-one combat against an opponent. The core objective is to deplete your opponent's health bar before they deplete yours using a combination of normal attacks, special moves, and powerful super attacks called Overdrives. Each character has a unique moveset, so learning their specific commands for special moves is essential. Beginners should focus on mastering basic movement, blocking, and a few key attacks before attempting complex combos. The game's combat is fast and aggressive, so staying mobile and looking for openings is crucial. In tense moments, managing your Tension Gauge is key; it builds as you move forward and attack, and can be spent to perform enhanced special moves or defensive techniques like Faultless Defense. Early in a match, focus on understanding your opponent's patterns. As the match progresses, try to land a combo to build momentum. When your health is low or the timer is running out, a well-timed Overdrive can turn the tide of battle.
