Metal Slug 5 is a fast-paced side-scrolling run-and-gun game where your objective is to survive each stage, defeat all enemies, and rescue POWs for bonus points and weapon upgrades. You control a soldier who can run, jump, crouch, and throw grenades. The core gameplay loop involves advancing through levels filled with enemy soldiers, vehicles, and environmental hazards while collecting a variety of powerful weapons like the Heavy Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher, and Flame Shot.
