Your goal is to become the Pokémon League Champion by traveling across the Sinnoh region, capturing and training Pokémon, and defeating eight Gym Leaders to earn badges. You begin by choosing a starter Pokémon—Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup—and then explore towns, routes, and caves while battling wild Pokémon and other trainers. In battles, you select moves from a menu to attack, defend, or use status effects, aiming to weaken opposing Pokémon without letting your own faint. Early on, focus on building a balanced team and leveling up your Pokémon evenly. As you progress, you'll need to solve environmental puzzles, use Hidden Moves like Cut and Surf to access new areas, and manage your items and party effectively. The game introduces the Distortion World, a unique area with altered physics and a confrontation with Giratina. In the late game, challenge the Elite Four and the Champion in a tense series of battles where type advantages, held items, and strategic move selection are crucial to victory.
